Name: Echo (Spirit of music)
Age: Ageless, though she appears to be 17
Sex: Female
Personality: Echo isn't like you would think most spirits are. She's curious about most things, but doesn't usually "connect" with other spirits. She lives for music, and gets rather angry if she comes across anyone who doesn't like it. Echo loves humans, and will do anything to remain around them.
History: As a human many years ago, Echo went by the name of Ongaku (Music). But that was hundreds of years ago. She was a musical child, always dancing about to the sounds of instruments and learning every one she could. By the age of 13, she was a musical prodigy. Her parents were proud of her musical abilities, but believed she should stop because she was a mere girl. At the age of 17, she continued her music, though her parents continued to tell her to quit.
She was too into her music to even think of quiting. She left her home with only a wooden flute and a little money to her name. She came to a cliff and sat, playing her flute. A strange shadow rose from the depths of the cliff like a snake, mystified by the music. She stopped playing and the shadow began to disappear. "Wait," she screamed. The shadow stopped and became still. "What are you?" The shadow explained that he was the spirit of music, but didn't want to be anymore. He said he used to be another form and shape, but lost this form because he quit music. She said she would take the duty from him, and he agreed. The black shadow surrounded her body, and for a fer seconds, the world went dark. When she could see again, she saw her body laying on the cliff edge. She was shocked, but then saw a tail beneath her. Her tail. Then she saw claws. Her claws. She was in the form of a black dragon. She slowly floated to the nearest body of water, affraid she might drop out of the sky, and looked at her face. Her black mane that ran down her back into a plume on her tail blew softly as she noticed three music note shaped marks on her fox-like face and the kanji for music hidden by her black bangs.
She left the shadow as the new spirit of music, after her first year of immortality. She learned she could turn back into her human form when she wanted to, and began to dress in more modern ways. She stumbled apon the Bath House some time after Chihiro left. Yubaba didn't suck up to her as she would have for every other spirit, claiming she didn't really like music anyway. For this reason, Ongaku took on a new name, Echo, and tries to keep away from other spirits as much as she can. She discovered humans appreciate music more than spirits, so she finds ways to travel to the human world and remain hidden in sounds and instruments.
